Thirty Day Notice was a name chosen by Lana. She wondered why everything always took 30 days, whether it was an eviction notice, terminating an agreement, various deadlines, exchanges, trial periods and even fasting and detoxing. For some reason, humans always need 30 days.

She also had a theory that applied to her own life for giving others a thirty day notice. When dating, Lana would give the relationship a 30 day trial period and by the end of the 30 days, if it didn't feel right or there were any doubts, she'd end it. In other words, the guy would get a thirty day notice. It became a funny saying used often by her friends who also tried out the 30 day method and found it useful as a tool to weed out parasitic relationships. This idea could also apply to new friendships. All of this is especially funny because at 30 she met the love of her life.

In 2002, when Lana formed Thirty Day Notice, she decided it was a perfect band name which fit the themes & moods of her lyrics.

Maybe one day we'll all get a thirty day notice about a celestial body heading for Earth's extinction!
